New smartphones: the Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a (5G)
This is the major novelty announced by Google at its annual event: the release of two new smartphones. They are 5G compatible and notably have a longer battery life and high-performance cameras.
Pixel 5: a powerful smartphone
The smartphone has a 6-inch OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor as well as 8 GB of RAM. The camera offers an ultra wide angle lens which allows quality photo rendering as well as a “panoramic shot” feature which adds a cinematic effect to videos.
The battery has an autonomy of 24 hours, which can be extended up to 48 hours thanks to the new “ultra battery saver” mode.
The Pixel 5 has a clean and streamlined design with its 100% recycled aluminum case. Google is integrating its fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone again, abandoning its facial recognition system.
The phone is 5G compatible and allows super fast content downloading. Other new features specific to the Pixel 5: the smartphone is water resistant and can benefit from wireless charging.
The Pixel 5 is available for pre-order for € 629 and will be delivered from October 15. The little extras: by buying the smartphone you get three months of subscription offered to Google One (offer valid until April 30, 2021). If you order a Google Pixel 5 between 9/30/2020 and 10/14/2020, you also receive Bose headphones.
Pixel 4a (5G): an affordable phone
The new Pixel 4a (5G) launched by Google has a larger screen (6.2 inches) than the Pixel 4a, 6 GB of RAM, a better battery and the same Snapdragon 765G chip as the Pixel 5. It is also 5G compatible.
On the camera side, the smartphone also has a 12.2 megapixel main sensor and ultra wide angle lens. On the other hand, it keeps the same design as the Pixel 4a, with a plastic material.
The Pixel 4a (5G) will be available from November for € 499. You can register on the waiting list to be the first informed.
